Prunus Lusitanica

The Prunus Lusitanica bonsai shows a second, more formal face in this Hokidachi (broom) style presentation: a decade and a half of clip-and-grow discipline have condensed the Portuguese laurel into a 50 cm tree whose branches radiate outward and upward from a single column like the ribs of an open parasol. The result is a broad, airy dome of twig upon twig — an architecture built pinch by pinch, where every cut encouraged two new shoots until the crown achieved true broom density. Dark, polished leaves dress this framework in every month of the year, and when June arrives, the green umbrella dusts itself with slender, scented white flower spikes, softening the crisp structure with a touch of romance. At half a metre in height, this evergreen broom bonsai sits comfortably on a display table or sideboard, offering full tree presence without demanding floor space. Its combination of strict silhouette and generous foliage makes the Portuguese laurel bonsai an excellent choice for interiors that favour clean lines. Collectors wishing to buy Prunus bonsai in the most iconic of all classical forms will appreciate how completely this specimen embodies it.
