Prunus Lusitanica

Rarely seen in bonsai pots, the Prunus Lusitanica bonsai — better known as Portuguese laurel — brings something genuinely uncommon to a collection: an evergreen that also flowers. Fifteen years of growth have raised this specimen to an impressive 70 cm, its trunk flowing through the unhurried, serpentine bends of the Moyogi (informal upright) style with an ease that suggests a tree at peace in its landscape. The foliage is the first delight: deep green leaves with a lacquer-like shine, held on burgundy-red petioles and young stems that flash vivid colour between the leaves. Then, in early summer, this flowering bonsai surprises its owner with upright racemes of small, fragrant white blossoms — a seasonal gift most evergreens never give. Its generous size and lush crown make it a natural focal point for a bright living room, winter garden or entrance hall. Enthusiasts searching for a Prunus bonsai for sale that blends year-round greenery, striking stem colour and honest blossom will struggle to find a more generous all-round performer.
